Mathematics has provided the foundations on which all science branches were built and developed. As such, mathematics is and will continue to be an important field of scientific research and education. This creates a need for more efficient and better-trained mathematics teachers, a demand which has not thus far been met. The EU-funded MaTeK project aims to change this. It will focus on developing and improving the Department of Mathematics Education of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Comenius University in Bratislava. The project’s actions will allow the department to enhance its practice by cooperating with other successful mathematics departments in various universities.
Objectives
The goal of MaTeK is to provide the DME of Comenius University in Bratislava opportunity to learn from partners, exchange best practices, and establish extensive networks for excellence. MaTeK will twin DME with Departments of Mathematics and Mathematics Education of the following universities: Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, University of Palermo, Italy, Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway, and Middle East Technical University, Turkey.
